TOI to plant 1 lakh trees in Hyderabad
Taking the Green-Abad movement to its next logical step, ‘The Times of India’ will be undertaking a mega exercise of planting one lakh saplings in the twin cities over the next three months. It will be carried out in association with the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) which also aims to plant over 10 lakh saplings in Hyderabad during the same period.
TOI’s plantation drive will start on World Environment Day — June 5 — at the Osmania University with GHMC when it will plant 500 saplings in the varsity campus.
TOI has been running a sustained campaign over the past one month to protect the city’s green cover. On June 5, TOI will plant saplings at the park in Street No. 1 in Tarnaka, and Bhawan’s School and Teacher’s Training School in Malkajgiri. In all, 2,500 saplings will be planted on Thursday.
